How do I contribute to a positive school culture?

First, through my involvement with Humans of Boucherie, I help highlight the incredible stories of perseverance, courage, and resilience in our students - many of who aren't always heard, nor accepted. Secondly, as a member of grad council, I serve as a role model who demonstrates strong communication, leadership, and someone who is inclusive to all students, regardless of their experiences and values. Lastly, I help contribute to a positive school culture by having meaningful conversations with the staff at MBSS frequently, as well as recognizing them for all of their dedication to bettering their students' futures.

Some individuals I believe will have a significant impact in terms of the future:

Noah McMartin: Noah is someone who I have had the privilege of growing alongside through middle school and high school. Part of the reason I foresee Noah having a lasting impact on the future is because of his curiosity, honesty, and out of the box thinking. Noah is as far from fake as you can get, and he does not fear having tough, but real conversations. His willingness to challenge social norms and his ability to question modern issues like politics and ways of living make him an individual I could see easily getting support from his peers. Lastly, Noah's creative and unordinary thinking gives him unique experiences, that others who simply follow, would not receive.

Jenaya McRorie: Jenaya's unmatchable work ethic, high energy and constant desire to better all. herself, as well as her empathetic personality prove to be contagious, as she is a friend to all. Jenaya is someone that I foresee having a lasting impact on the future because of her humility in helping with numerous humanitarian work, and her fearlessness to seek discomfort and try new things. Jenaya pushes those around her to step out of their comfort zone, and in doing so, creates memorable and impactful experiences. Jenaya is a natural leader and someone who gets along with everybody. One of her finest qualities is her leadership skills which will be crucial in life following high school.

What will our graduating class accomplish going forward?

The MBSS graduating class of 2020 is destined to accomplish great things in the future. As young minds, our graduating class will have fresh outlooks and ideas which can help spark new political ideas and change the way we run the world. One of the main new ideas that has really been emphasized by our graduating class is the climate change crisis and innovative ways to help fight it. Throughout our school, we recycle as much as we can and some of the students from our grad class that work in the schools coffee shop have introduced recyclable cups to help minimize waste. Going forward, it is imperative that our grad council looks ahead at large-scale issues, come up with plans, and educate ourselves, which we have done. Together we can help minimize the damages of climate change and combat the rising temperatures. We as a collective group also have some very inspirational and motivating people who going forward, can help foster hope and serve as mentors for our younger generations. Going forward, our graduating class as a collective group will accomplish equal opportunities for those individuals who are uniquely gifted, disabled, or simply outcasts. We will help break the stigma and barrier that surrounds the idea that individuals have set life paths and instead, push those around us to explore their passions and overcome any difficulties they may face. Lastly, our graduating class as a collective group will continue to be humble and put the needs of others before ourselves and help volunteer for different initiatives in our own communities, and places of work.

What I love about MBSS:

When reflecting on what I love about MBSS, a few things immediately come to mind. The staff at MBSS is so incredibly accommodating, whether that be staying late or dedicating their lunch time for allowing a re-test, or teaching class lessons in different ways to accommodate a variety of learning styles. Additionally, the staff are all very personable people that are easy to approach, students as well as talk to for personal advice and guidance. Part of what allows us to connect so well to the teachers are the small classroom sizes which help you get acquainted with your teachers, as well as allowing for more one on one assistance. One of the other things I truly adore about MBSS is the wide array of courses, dual-credit programs, school sports, clubs, and volunteer opportunities that are available here at MBSS. MBSS certainly prioritizes the diverse interests of the student body.
